Weingut Malat
Weingut Malat is a centuries-old estate on the south bank of the Danube, where the family has been farming since 1722. Now led by Michael Malat, the 10th generation, the focus is on low-input farming, spontaneous ferments, and transparent winemaking. Their wines are honest and precise—grounded in tradition, but guided by thoughtful evolution.
Farming Note
Certified sustainable farming across 45 hectares of steep vineyards. No herbicides, no irrigation. The work is done by hand, with deep roots in biodiversity, soil health, and long-term stewardship.
Winemaking Note
Spontaneous fermentations across all styles. No shortcuts. A preference for neutral wood and extended lees aging, with minimal sulfur and no cosmetic tricks. The cellar rhythm is slow, allowing wines to develop naturally—focused, structured, and crystal clear.

Tasting Note Aromatic and textural, this wine opens with notes of orange peel, rose petal, ginger, and a touch of wild herbs. The palate is dry, spicy, and grippy, with a salty edge and persistent lift. Bold but balanced, this is a compelling expression of Gewürztraminer with both structure and energy.
