Pedro Mendez
Pedro Méndez is part of a quiet movement reshaping Rías Baixas. He farms small parcels scattered across the old subzones—Condado, Ribeira do Ulla, and Barbanza e Iria—with the kind of patience and humility that never announces itself. These sea-inland sites, set among rocky forest tracks, give rise to wines of pure site expression—electric, honest, and precise. Pedro works without pretension. And he works alone. Everything by hand.
Farming Note
Pedro farms sustainably using low-input methods, tending each vine by hand. He respects traditional pergola training and maintains biodiversity across tiny, scattered parcels. Most are rooted in granite bedrock with topsoils of sand, gravel, and clay. No chemicals. No nonsense—just old-school Rías Baixas grit.
Winemaking
Native yeast ferments, low to no sulfur, and minimal intervention at every turn. Pedro’s cellar approach is as humble as his farming—just enough of a touch to let the wine stay clean, vibrant, and unpolished in the best way. No new oak, no additions, no filtration.

Style White
Region Rías Baixas
Varieties Albariño
ABV 12.50%
Soils Granite bedrock with varying topsoils, including sand, gravel, and clay
Tasting Note Crackling with energy. Saline and citrus-driven, but without the usual flash. This is Albariño with spine—tight, chalky, and refreshingly bitter on the finish. No makeup.
Pedro Mendez, Tinto 'Xuntanza'
Vintage NV
Style Red
Region Rías Baixas
Varieties Mencía, Caíño Tinto
ABV Not Specified
Soils Granite bedrock with varying topsoils, including sand, gravel, and clay
Tasting Note An unconventional blend of Mencía and Caiño Tinto across vintages. High-toned and herbal, with iron, cranberry, and plenty of snap. A wine that reads more like a mood than a varietal. Cool, lifted, and alive.

Vintage 2021
Style Red
Region Rías Baixas
Varieties Mencía
ABV 12.50%
Soils Granite bedrock with varying topsoils, including sand, gravel, and clay
