giacomo baraldo
Giacomo Baraldo is something of a winemaking savant, crafting wines with a deep connection to Tuscany’s land. His wines sing of site—showcasing grace, light, tension, and power all at once. Focused, alive, and elegant, Baraldo’s wines express profound detail and character. Farming is biodynamic; the lines run clean, and his site-driven organic wines are standout examples of alt-Tuscan talent winemaking can do.
Farming Note
All vineyards are farmed organically, with a strong emphasis on low yields and biodiversity. Baraldo avoids synthetic chemicals, using herbal preparations and compost to support healthy vines. His work in Castellina in Chianti, Montepulciano, and Maremma follows a regenerative approach, rooted in observation rather than intervention. Farming choices change vintage to vintage, always guided by what the site tells him.
Winemaking Note
Baraldo is considered fearless and uncompromising among his peers. Native fermentations, no additives, and exclusively cement and steel aging are hallmarks of his style. Wines are bottled unfiltered, with low to no added sulfur. Still, Baraldo doesn’t follow a script—his work changes to reflect each vineyard’s voice. That agility, and his absolute clarity of vision, are what set him apart.
