Fine
Disregard

When Mike Schieffelin and Kara Marden founded Fine Disregard in Napa, it wasn’t to chase trends—it was to carve out space for something different. Sourcing from small, sustainably farmed vineyards across California, their wines are an exploration of nuance and texture.

It’s all about balance—native fermentations, low sulfur, and a commitment to letting the fruit shine. These are wines that feel grounded yet vibrant. Fine Disregard isn’t interested in being flashy. They’re making wines for people who want something real.

Farming Note

Fine Disregard sources from a collection of vineyard sites across California, each chosen for its unique character and ability to express its terroir—from sandy loams in Contra Costa to decomposed granite in Monterey County. They farm with a focus on balance and vine resilience. Many sites are old-vine plantings—some over a century old—meticulously maintained to preserve their natural vitality. This care ensures fruit of exceptional quality, deeply tied to both land and history.

Winemaking

Winemaking at Fine Disregard is rooted in simplicity and respect for the fruit. Grapes are harvested at the moment they show balance and clarity, then fermented with native yeasts to preserve their essence. Handling is gentle, allowing the wines to evolve naturally without interference. Aging takes place in neutral vessels—barrel, concrete, or steel—depending on the needs of the wine. The focus is always on purity and site expression.
