david fletcher

An Aussie who fell in love with Barolo, David Fletcher crafts wines that capture the essence of Piedmont with a modern, approachable style. His Nebbiolos—sourced from top vineyards in Barbaresco and Alba—are elegant and lifted, with a focus on clarity and freshness. His Barbera and Chardonnay experiments are just as thrilling, showing off his talent for creating wines that balance tradition with a fresh perspective.

Farming Note

All of Fletcher’s wines come from organically farmed vineyards in Piedmont. The sites are carefully managed to maintain low yields and fruit concentration. Dominant soils—limestone, clay, marl, and sandy-clay—contribute structure, freshness, and precision. Fletcher’s farming approach emphasizes sustainability and site transparency, allowing each wine to reflect its unique environment.

Winemaking Note

Fletcher follows a minimal-intervention philosophy, with native or spontaneous fermentations carried out using wild yeasts. Most wines age in neutral oak to preserve varietal purity and vineyard identity, while stainless steel is used occasionally to enhance freshness. There’s little to no fining or filtration, and sulfur is applied sparingly. The result: wines that guide the fruit gently to bottle, without manipulation.
