Crotin

In the rolling hills of Monferrato, brothers Federico, Marcello, and Corrado Russo oversee their family vineyards, planted on calcareous clay soils. They focus on native varieties—Barbera, Grignolino, and Freisa—farmed organically and tended by hand.

At the heart of Crotin is a nod to tradition: native yeast fermentation, spontaneous co-fermentation, and aging in neutral vessels. The wines are fresh, vibrant, and full of character, echoing the richness and hospitality of Monferrato’s terroir.

Farming Note

Crotin’s vineyards in the hills of Piemonte are rooted in a mix of clay, limestone, and sand—an ideal foundation for native varieties like Barbera, Freisa, Grignolino, and Bonarda. The farming philosophy is one of biodiversity, sustainability, and minimal intervention, with each site managed to reflect the natural character and heritage of the region.

Winemaking

All wines are fermented with native yeasts and aged in neutral vessels or stainless steel, depending on the grape and site. The approach is clean and precise—highlighting freshness, varietal expression, and the nuance of place. Minimal intervention in the cellar ensures that each wine remains expressive, honest, and deeply rooted in its Piedmontese origins.
